Literacy Supports

The Early Learning Challenge Grant has enabled Ohio [in conjunction with other states] to build a seamless and cohesive systemic approach to early childhood professionals. This grant has brought forward Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards, new assessments (formative and diagnostic), and a new tiered rating system to name a few. State Support Teams will conduct professional development trainings and provide many opportunities to those in the field of educating and working with our young learners.

Besides the training on the above stated material, the Early Childhood Consultants at State Support Team Region 2 can provide Technical Assistance and Professional Development on topics such as:

  •  Content Area Development: Math, Social Studies, and Science: What does this look like in  my classroom?
  • Developmental Spelling and Word Study: Meeting the Needs of ALL Children
  • Five Essential Elements of Literacy (Alphabetic Principle, Phonics, Fluency, Comprehension and Vocabulary) Are we Asking the Right Questions?
  • Vocabulary Development:  Looking Through the Lens of Isabel Beck, Dale Edgars, Donald Baer et al.
  • What should I be looking for in a Wilson Reading Lesson?
We can customize our offerings to meet the needs of family home care providers, agencies and school districts. Please contact Jackie Plantner ([email protected]) 440-324-5777 Ext. 1157 or Nancy Osko ([email protected]) 440-324-5777 Ext. 1118 to discuss your needs.
