This course is based upon the text, “Your Students, My Students, Our Students: Rethinking Equitable and Inclusive Classrooms” by Jung, Frey, Fisher, and Kroener. Equity has always been a focus of education, but has recently received more attention as expectations of students with disabilities continue to rise. However, inclusive educational practices still lag behind and current practices do not align with the intent of the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
This text provides practical ideas to successfully include students with disabilities within the general education setting. In addition to reading the text, students will be required to respond to discussion questions and interact with others on the discussion board within a Google Classroom.
The first 15 people who register will receive a complementary copy of the book!
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Participants will:
1. Explore methods of expanding equitable practices for students with disabilities.
2. Expand methods of creating opportunities for inclusion.
3. Discuss strategies to collaborate with other professionals who share the same students to enhance service delivery.
