Bio:

Nancy Osko has over 20 years of teaching experinece in KDG-Grade 5.  She has extensive knowlege of insturction needs and supports to teach English Learners and is a Certified Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Endorsed educator.  Her experience includes teaching abroad at the International School of Lausanne in Switzerland, Nevada, Texas and ner native Ohio.  All of these experiences included rich language immersion in mutliple cultures.  She has been a Literacy Coach in these states as well as being a Building Principal, all of which emphazed her role in educational and instructional leadership and building supports for all children.  Nancy also has extensive knowledge and training in Orton Gillingham Approach (OG) to reading as well as a deep understanding of how to explicity teach the Science of Reading.  She is a Local Certified Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) Facilitator.  Nancy has been an active memeber of the Northern Ohio Dyslexia Associaiton (NOBIDA) for the past six years.  Her current role as a Regional Early Literacy Specialist (RELS) is focused on working with the Ohio Department of Education to promote evidence-based language and literacy teaching and learning for all learns from birth to Grade 12.  As part of the State's Literacy Team, she works with districts to implement exensive professional development, modeling specific skills and strategies and participates in instructinal coaching with classroom teachers and district administrators.  The work within this project is cirtical to raising literacy achievement for all of Ohio's children.
