As reported by the Ohio Department of Education, the number of Ohio students who are English Learners has doubled to approximately 60,000 students. Spanish is the most common home language at almost 40%, however, our students represent 90 other home languages, as well.
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that Ohio must identify English Learners, annually assess for English proficiency and provide reasonable accommodations on state assessments.
